1708 studio launch party!Sunday, May 3, 2009
I'm finally gonna break the blog silence! I feel like I should have the voice from LOST that says... "previously on Josh's blog" since you've probably all forgotten about me. Just to catch you up on why I've been so busy lately...
After a bunch of meetings and waiting on permits and other annoying things, the new studio is finally up and running. I've been working from there for a week or so now and it's a blast! For those of you just tuning in, I'm sharing a studio space called 1708 with a couple good friends of mine, Cafe Evoke and Gibson Events. We all use 1708 as a place to work and meet clients. It's also functioning as an art gallery and sweet spot for private parties and live music! It's located (believe it or not) at 1708 NW 16th in the Plaza District of OKC. Aaaannd, if you're not doing anything this weekend, on Friday night, you should come by! We are having a huge launch party with all kinds of good stuff. It'll be a fun time! FYI, the second Friday of every month the Plaza Ditrict hosts LIVE on the Plaza. All the shops, galleries and restaurants have their doors open with live music, art showings and other awesome stuff. So, if you come by to help us open 1708 you can also take in LIVE on the Plaza, doubly whammy! If you live in the 405, come by Friday the 8th from 6-10pm. If you have time, please RSVP to comingto1708@gmail.com Hope to see ya there! ![]() ![]()

coming soon....Wednesday, April 15, 2009
This is going to be a big month! We are in the final steps of opening the new studio. In the spirit of newness I decided it was time to give the old blog and website a facelift. I'm getting close to having it finished up and boy is it sweet! There will be all kinds of new technology worked in here, bigger images and much more! I've been working with an amazing web design company call INTO THE DARKROOM. It's the same company that built our slideshow site ,they are quite awesome and I can't wait to debut much more of thier handiwork throughout the year!
My studio mates, Cafe Evoke and Gibson Events, and I are throwing a studio launch party at 1708 on May 8th during the art walk in the Plaza District. It's shaping up to be a pretty sweet night, you're all invited by the way! I'm hoping to reveal all this newness the same day as the studio launch! Here's a peek...

updates...Monday, March 23, 2009
Hey all,
I just wanted to catch you up on whats happening around here with the McCullocks. Gavin is growing like crazy, I think he adds a chin or two each week. From certain angles he can manage to produce up to 4 consecutive chins, pretty impressive. He's started smiling and reaching for toys from time to time. I almost got him to laugh at me this morning, that will be a happy day! Katie is going back to her teaching job in a couple weeks and then I'll be flying solo with Gavin, you can call me Mr. Mom. On the business front, we are making some big changes in the next few weeks. The studio should be finished this week and we hope to throw a grand opening party in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for details about that! I'll be releasing a new blog and website really soon as well. The new sites will be filled with all types of nerd wonder. Video, social network integration, awesome animation and of course some sweet new images. You may notice a slow down in my blogging until the new blog drops, I can't wait! Yesterday we got the chance to have coffee with some of our favorite clients from last season. Gene and Katie were passing though town on spring break and had a sweet gift for Gavin. I promised to not be the parent that gets all fanatical about kid stuff and talks in silly voices all the time. With that said, I can't help but think these shoe/socks are awesome. They're like shoes, but they're socks! Thanks so much to Gene and Katie, we're so lucky to have our lives filled with awesome people like you guys!
1708 in progress...Friday, March 13, 2009
From what we can tell the new studio will be completed in a couple weeks! The contractors are putting on the final touches before we get to go in and deck the place out. I'm really looking forward to this step for our business as well as Cafe Evoke and Gibson Events. Here's a couple snaps from tonight at LIVE on the Plaza. It was really cool. There was a indie film screening, live music and an art opening at DNA Galleries. Our neighbors to the East were serving green beer and corn beef in honor of St. Pattys, that was pretty cool. I also got a sweet, handmade Obama onesie for Gavin at Collected Thread. Hopefully by the next Plaza LIVE we'll have our doors open to contribute to the awesomeness!
forgive the unflattering angle here, I stuck my camera in a potted plant for this shot.

Laura's bridal session...Thursday, February 26, 2009
There is a problem with bridal sessions, I love shooting them but most of the shots never see the light of day. We normally do the whole shoot just for one print or canvas at the wedding. I never have the time to go back and give some photoshop love to the rest of the shoot, until today! I've had the urge to blog something, but haven't shot in the past month so what better time to dust off some old bridals and shine em up! Laura & Kyle's wedding was amazing, one of our favorite from last year without a doubt!
working it!
that's alot of dress!
Before I forget, I thought I'd mention a cool new feature of the Brides of Oklahoma Magazine website. Exclusive vendors can now have a cool little profile so brides can get to know us a little better. My friends Kami & Ashley, the editors, are so talented and sharp. They've put together such an amazing, quality resource for Oklahoma brides, I'm continually impressed! Check out my profile they made for me!

goals...Wednesday, February 18, 2009
I'm a goal-setter, a list-maker, the king of checklists. Infact, I feel best about myself when I can look at a checklist at the end of the day and draw a big nasty line through all the things I had written down. Little secret...sometimes I even write down things I've already done just so I can cross them out. It feels so good!
I started 2009 with only 2 big goals for my business... 1- I want to shoot my first international destination wedding. Check! Thanks Scott & Jessica, you're the best! 2- I want to have some type of studio or office for my business. A storefront, an office, a hub for meetings, shoots and the day to day business. Check! This week, after months consideration and talking, we signed a lease on what will be the perfect home for Josh McCullock Photography! What makes it even better is that I'll be sharing building with two friends and their businesses. I'll be joining forces with two great companies; Cafe Evoke and Gibson Events. We hope to not only enrich each-other's businesses but to use our space as a hub for local art, music and creativity. We've decided to use the address of our space, 1708, as the name in hopes that we'll be able to host gallery openings and other creative ventures. I don't think I could have picked to other people more compatible than these folks . I've got the privelege of working with two of Oklahoma's coolest business owners! Here's a little about us...
Jason Duncan, the owner of Cafe Evoke, is an Oklahoma native who's had many travels learning the art of coffee. Now he's back in the 405 to share his gift with us. Cafe Evoke is known as Oklahoma's premier specialty coffee catering company and for good reason. They're passionate about amazing service and amazing coffee. Cafe Evoke serves world class specialty coffee at any event and does it with a smile! Make sure you check out their website.
Lindsay Gibson of Gibson Events is the other integral part of 1708. Lindsay is an event designer with a great sense of simplicity and elegance. She's also very successful in the wedding industry! You may have seen her feature in the new Brides of Oklahoma Magazine. Once you meet her you'll know why she's so great at what she does, she's very relaxed and intuitive. If you're planning a wedding or an event that needs some style, do yourself a favor and let her help you! You can learn more about Lindsay and her work at her websiteor keep up with her on her blog.
Last but not least, I'll be there doing my thing. I think this new venture will not only allow me to expand some opportunities our business, but more importantly it will help us better serve the clients who've already invested in us. We like to keep things small and personal. I don't really have any interest in using this studio to shoot a crazy number of weddings. I'd much rather find about 30 awesome couples per year who value photography and cherish memories like me. That allows me to invest time and creativity into each couple we work with, which I think is good! Well we are excited beyond belief about what the future holds! We look forward to working with the other businesses in the Plaza District and adding to the growth and vitality of that area. There's more to come about our neighbors and all that the Plaza District has to offer. In the meantime I'll leave you with some shots of 1708. These were taken about a week ago. Much has changed since then, we're almost ready for paint now!

James & Jennifer...Wednesday, January 21, 2009
We started off 2009 with a great wedding at the downtown Sheraton! Meet James & Jennifer Thorton, they're quite awesome.
I was really worried Gavin was going to decide to be born last Saturday while I was shooting this, so I had some awesome backup come with me. I brought along our super-intern and second shooter Jon Ervin and the amazing Todd Scott Ballje from Beautiful Day Images to back me up incase I had to rush to the hospital to meet my son. Turns out that Saturday was one of the only days Katie didn't have contractions! Oh well, better safe than sorry... Thanks to Todd and Jon for the amazing images it's going to make this album hard to beat. I'm still sorting though about 4500 images between all 3 of us! There are so many great moments from this wedding, make sure you check out the slideshow at the end. It's about 70 degrees out so I'll be out on the deck for the next few hours if anyone needs me. I suggest you go outside and enjoy this weather!!! to life!
